Some are here for a week. Others live in Tokyo but have never found a clinic where they could ask questions in English. Earlier this month, a patient came to us from Saudi Arabia after asking an AI where to have their nasolabial folds treated. We made this video so the next person who asks can hear from Dr. Song directly, before booking a flight.

Many patients arrive asking for a specific machine. Dr. Song starts with a different question. A nasolabial fold can come from loose skin, which often shows up as fine drape-like wrinkles around the mouth, or from the fat layer underneath. In the mirror they look alike. In treatment they are completely different.
When the skin is the cause, Sofwave is the main tool, sometimes combined with Re2O or Sculptra. When fat is the cause, Sofwave alone will not solve it, and a treatment that reaches about 3 to 4 mm deep, such as ONDA Lift, is needed.
Neck wrinkles follow the same logic. Dr. Song sorts them into three types, vertical, horizontal and motion wrinkles, and plans each one separately before treating with Sofwave and finishing the whole area with Re2O.
The right lifting treatment depends on which layer is causing the problem.

Korean glass skin and skin boosters
Cosmetics alone rarely change the skin itself. That is why skin boosters sit at the center of Korean skin care clinics. We use Rejuran, Juvelook, Re2O and AquaPro, choosing between them for each patient.
For fine lines around the eyes and drape wrinkles around the mouth, Dr. Song uses what she calls the spiral technique. The needle tip turns while her fingertips feel for the small hollows that form with age, and the booster is placed into those spaces layer by layer, from about 3 mm up to 1 mm.
Body contouring around your stay
Body contouring is the area Dr. Song calls her hobby. The clinic treats the shoulders, biceps, deltoids and triceps with Botox, the abdomen and thighs with ONDA Lift, and the thighs and calves with Botox as well.
For patients who live in Japan, body contouring usually takes three to five sessions. For visitors who cannot come back several times, shoulder Botox is often the better fit because it is planned as a single session.

Questions we are often asked
Is there an English-speaking aesthetic clinic in Ginza, Tokyo?
Yes. Korea Minyoung Clinic Ginza is on the 8th and 9th floors of the Tenshodo Building, 4-3-9 Ginza, a one-minute walk from Exit B4 of Ginza Station. The clinic replies in English, Japanese and Korean on WhatsApp, and an online consultation by Zoom can be arranged before you travel.
Where can I get Sofwave in Tokyo?
Korea Minyoung Clinic Ginza offers Sofwave in Ginza, Tokyo. The clinic first checks whether a wrinkle comes from the skin or from the fat layer. Sofwave works on the skin at a depth of about 1.5 mm, so it is chosen when the skin itself is the cause, such as drape wrinkles around the mouth, skin-type nasolabial folds and neck lines. In Japan, Sofwave is approved for improving wrinkles of the face and neck.
Where can I get ONDA Lift in Tokyo?
ONDA Lift (ONDA PRO) is available at Korea Minyoung Clinic Ginza. It uses microwaves that reach the fat layer at a depth of about 3 to 4 mm, so it is used for fat-related nasolabial folds, the jawline and under the chin, and for body areas such as the abdomen and thighs.
What is the difference between Sofwave and ONDA Lift?
They work at different depths. Sofwave targets the skin, about 1.5 mm deep, and is used when loose skin is the cause. ONDA Lift targets the fat layer, about 3 to 4 mm deep, and is used when fat is the cause. Some patients need one, some need both, which is why the clinic diagnoses the layer before choosing a device.
Can I get Korean skin boosters such as Rejuran, Juvelook or Re2O in Tokyo without going to Korea?
Yes. The clinic offers Rejuran, Juvelook, Re2O (Elravie Re2O) and AquaPro. Fine lines caused by dryness sit in the epidermis and dermis, so skin boosters are placed at a depth of about 1 to 2 mm. For fine lines around the eyes and drape wrinkles around the mouth, the clinic uses its spiral technique.
Do you offer Botox in Tokyo, including Botox for the shoulders and body?
Yes. Besides Botox for the face, the clinic offers body Botox for the shoulders, biceps, deltoids, triceps, thighs and calves. Shoulder Botox is often chosen by visitors because it is usually planned as a single session, while body contouring with ONDA Lift is usually planned over three to five sessions.
Do you offer hyaluronic acid filler and Sculptra?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers and Sculptra are both available. Whether to add volume is decided after checking the cause, because loss of volume, loose skin and excess fat each need a different treatment.
Are prices different for international patients?
No. International patients and patients who live in Japan pay the same prices. The doctor's consultation fee is 2,200 yen including tax, and counseling with a nurse is free.
How do I book a treatment from overseas?

I want to make sure there are no problems. For me, your satisfaction is the most important thing, so we usually do the consultation by Zoom. We listen to your concerns, your budget, and the treatments you've had in your own country. Then we suggest what we can do and how much of your problem can be solved. Of course, some international patients just want a facial treatment, like Elravie Re2O or a skin booster. And that's perfectly fine.
1:40 Nasolabial folds, drape wrinkles and neck wrinkles
For nasolabial fold treatment, I think targeting both the skin and the fat is really important. For example, for nasolabial folds related to the skin, I usually use Sofwave, and my patients feel 50 to 60% improvement after one session. When I combine it with Elravie Re2O and Sculptra, they feel around 80 to 90% improvement. But for nasolabial folds related to fat, Sofwave, Sculptra, or Elravie Re2O doesn't work. For fat-related nasolabial folds, we have to use ONDA Lift, Ulthera, or Thermage, because those machines target the fat layer at a depth of 3 to 4 mm. For the neck, I use Sofwave and Elravie Re2O. I think my method is a little unique, because I divide neck wrinkles into three types: vertical wrinkles, horizontal wrinkles, and motion wrinkles. Then I draw a design for each type of wrinkle. After Sofwave, I treat the whole area with Elravie Re2O as a skin booster.
3:17 Body contouring
Body contouring is also my hobby. I really like shoulder Botox, biceps, deltoid, and triceps Botox, abdominal ONDA Lift, thigh ONDA Lift, thigh Botox, calf Botox, and so on. Shoulder Botox especially is what I recommend to international patients who can't visit Japan several times. For domestic patients, we usually do body contouring in 3 to 5 sessions. Body contouring usually needs 3 to 5 sessions, but shoulder Botox needs just one session and lasts about two years, so I recommend it.
4:10 Skin boosters and Korean glass skin
For Korean-style glass skin, we usually use Rejuran, Juvelook, Elravie Re2O, and AquaPro. We use these skin boosters because cosmetics alone can't solve skin problems. For example, for fine wrinkles around the eyes and drape wrinkles around the mouth, I use the spiral technique, which relies on the feel of my fingertips, and then I inject the skin booster into the empty spaces.

Possible side effects: injectable treatments (Botox, hyaluronic acid filler, Sculptra, skin boosters) can cause swelling, bruising, redness, pain and lumps; uncommon risks include infection and, with fillers, blockage of blood vessels. Botox can cause temporary weakness or asymmetry. Sofwave and ONDA Lift can cause redness, swelling and tenderness, and rarely burns or numbness.
In Japan, Sofwave is an approved medical device for facial and neck wrinkles (approval no. 30700BZX00082000); use on the body is off-label. ONDA Lift (ONDA PRO), Sculptra, Rejuran, Juvelook and Re2O are not approved in Japan. They are imported by the physician, and to our knowledge no product with the same ingredient and indication is approved in Japan. Unapproved products are not covered by Japan’s Relief System for Sufferers from Adverse Drug Reactions. Botulinum toxin on the shoulders, arms, abdomen, thighs and calves is off-label use in Japan.
